Eivie Team
The Slovenian Eivie team raced at Battle Mountain in 2003, and Damjan Zabovnik set a new European 200 meter speed record at 68.21 MPH / 109.7 KPH!. Since then they designed and built a new smaller and faster fairing, the Eivie II, and have been trying for a 1 hour speed record in Europe since then.
The Eivie team is planning to return to Battle Mountain in 2004!
This vehicle is unique in that it is driven with the pilot facing backwards. The pilot views the road by looking in a mirror.

The Rotator Team
Steve Delaire's Rotator team is without doubt the largest team at this event. In 2003 They fielded 4 different streamliners, the fastest of which is Steve's Big Gun speedbike, in which Steve went 62 MPH in 2002.
About 7 racers will compete in WHPSC2004 from the Rotator team:
- Frank Geyer and myself will want to run "Big Gun"
- Dean Peterson in the Rotator Coyote
- Orin Macquarrie in the highracer Varna clone
- Brian Romano in the Rotator Super 7 "Frankenstein"
- Stewart Delaire
- Craig Delaire
- Also possible: Tom Novac

Coslinger Team
Thom Ollinger raced the Coslinger Special at Battle Mountain in 2003 and cranked it up to 62.068 MPH.
It had been modified in 2003 by Sean Costin to use a Varna bubble canopy which allowed it to run without the video camera remote vision apparatus that had been problematic in the past. The Coslinger team is still planning on building a new streamliner, called 'Cos II', but progress is slow. Will they return this year?

Easy Racers Team
In 2003 young Mackie Martin piloting the Virtual Rush camera bike attained a speed of 61.46 MPH. He increased his speed each day he raced.
The Easy Racers team has a number of new streamliner projects brewing including a new bike based on the Eivie shell they obtained at WHPSC 2003, developing their own new streamliner shell, and a rear facing trike based streamliner.
The rumor is that Gardner & crew will be debuting a radical new trike based speedbike for the 2004 event. This will be the first trike at Battle Mountain!

The Matt Weaver Team
In 2003, Matt Weaver came to BM with a new speedbike called the Cutting Edge II, which was a rebuild of Virtual Edge. It had been modified to accommodate dual 26" tubular tires, and a dual stage 27-speed chain/high torque belt drive train. This new bike has a carbon fiber frame/forks/fixed wheel covers and a beautiful red paint job. This bike features a novel computer controlled steering damper, which is designed to help control the bike at the dangerous speeds above 80MPH. Matt also brought the bike he raced in 2002, the Kyle Edge camera bike. Matt did not race in 2003 for safety reasons.
What will he bring this year?
Matt is currently using this bike to attempt to the break 1 hour speed record and win the Dempsey-MccCready prize. Unfortunately, track time and good weather are hard to get, and even more difficult to get at the same time.

The Varna Team
Due to the less than ideal conditions present during the week of Battle Mountain 2003, this was the first year that Sam Whittingham did not set a new 200 meter world record. He did post the fastest speed for the event at 78.242 MPH. He also set a new world record for the fastest HPV crash, at over 80MPH, briefly going airborne in the process. This crash occurred because of a blowout just before the timing traps. Sam was shaken by the crash and slide but the well built Varna Diablo protected him from damage and he emerged unscathed.
Freddy Markham raced the Varna Mephisto and posted a top speed of 68.387 MPH. We are looking forward to seeing Sam, Fred and George return for the 2004 event.

The Varnowski Team
Joe Kochanowski showed up at BM 2003 with a brand new Varna clone, dubbed "Silver", which he and Steve Nash built in the record time of two weeks, just in time for the races.
Joe posted an excellent speed of 64.98, which i'm sure he will improve upon this year.
